The in-game map of the area
The Final Trial was the last area in the first Pikmin game. It was home to Olimar's last missing ship part- the Secret Safe. This area was the smallest in the first game (except for perhaps The Impact Site) and was home to only one enemy, a gigantic and powerful Emperor Bulblax. On the map screen, it was located across a large body of water, perhaps a lake, or more likely an ocean, at the foot of a shadowy mountain. This distanced it quite a bit from the previous four areas. Because tectonic shifting is believed to have occurred to areas in Pikmin 1 so that they reappeared under different titles in Pikmin 2, it is clear that so far, The Final Trial is the farthest Olimar has ever explored the planet, as that same mountain is visible in the distance in Pikmin 2.
In challenge mode, this area is home to an assortment of enemies not found in other challenge mode areas, such as sheargrubs, the Burrowing Snagret and the Beady Long Legs.
